Fallout from Cyberattack on Nevada State Government continues

Nevada continues to deal with the fallout of a cyber attack that has shut down state services for a second straight day. Governor Joe Lombardo’s office confirmed Tuesday the state was the target of a network security breach that remains under investigation by state and federal officials.

While there’s no evidence personal data was compromised, residents may find state websites and phone lines slow or unavailable. Emergency services and home internet are unaffected. Officials say restoring the most critical services is the top priority, and agencies will announce reopening plans later this week.

The Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles is one agency that won’t open today.  In fact, yesterday afternoon, they notified us that all offices will be closed until further notice.

Once the DMV reopens, they say all cancelled appointments will be accepted as walk-ins for a two week period of time as well as any fees that were incurred during the outage will be waived.

The Nevada DMV website is running as usual, and while officials are suggesting that the website be used if possible, multiple reports indicate that website outages are still occurring.

Below is the Governor's statement as received by KELY.
