Several welfare checks were conducted, including one where a person was taken to a healthcare facility for assistance, while others were found safe or not home.

Deputies also issued a warning in a county public nuisance case involving dismantled vehicles, and are reviewing a reported violation of a protection order with the City Attorney.

Other calls included a reported intoxicated driver who left the area, a theft follow-up, a complaint about an attempted drug sale referred to tribal police, and an animal bite involving a cat.

In a statement, Lombardo cited Schonfeld’s decades of legal experience, while Schonfeld said he looks forward to helping maintain the integrity of the state’s gaming sector.

A Nevada woman will spend more than four years in prison for a massive COVID-era tax fraud scheme.

Federal prosecutors say Candies Goode-McCoy filed more than 1,200 fraudulent tax returns, seeking nearly 100 million dollars in credits tied to pandemic relief programs. The U.S. Department of Justice says the IRS paid out about 33 million dollars.

Authorities say McCoy personally received more than one million dollars and spent the money on luxury items, travel, and gambling.

She pleaded guilty to conspiracy to defraud the government and was ordered to pay 26 million dollars in restitution, followed by three years of supervised release.

Federal prosecutors say four Mexican nationals with prior felony convictions and deportations are now facing charges for illegally reentering the United States.

The U.S. Department of Justice says the men were found living in the Las Vegas area after previous removals. They include Laurentino Salvador Juarez-Martinez, Serguio Raudel Contreras-Torres, Brandon Castanon-Bautista, and Pablo Covarrubias-Islas.

Authorities say each has a criminal history ranging from drug offenses to robbery, and multiple prior deportations.

If convicted, they face additional prison time, fines, and supervised release.

Several workers at a Las Vegas Casino are being accused of stealing nearly 300-thousand-dollars from their employer.  Our news partners at 8 News Now say three people are charged with skimming money from the registers at Binion's Gambling Hall and Hotel.  The thefts allegedly started in 2022 and lasted until 2025.  Metro Police documents show the investigation started after an audit of Binion's Cafe.  One suspect reportedly told police the trio swiped about 200-dollars a day from the registers.
